This workflow ensures the creation of high-quality and optimized 3D models while improving administration and traceability for every employee of the company.
Google Drive
Platform for uploading finalized models and texture files.
Each model requires a dedicated folder containing the model and all related files.
Folder names must always match the corresponding ClickUp card name.
Proper organization of folders simplifies model retrieval and updates.
ClickUp
The primary project management tool.
Modelers receive tasks containing all relevant information, including product links, reference images, and other specifications.
Tasks are categorized by priority and "level" (level 1, level 2, level 3).
Statuses:
TO DO: New models to be created with all necessary information. Models are primarily identified by product number; if unavailable, the product name is used.
In Progress: Indicates active work on a model or models.
Review: Completed models awaiting quality assurance (QA).
Correction: Models needing corrections based on QA feedback. These are prioritized.
Completed: Models with no errors, ready for publication. This status is set by the Holostep.io team.
Google Docs
Used for quality assurance (QA).
Modelers and QA team members document observations, corrections, and comments for each model.
Each document pertains to one model, ensuring traceability.
QA documents are created in the model’s corresponding Google Drive folder.
Google Chat
The primary communication tool for the team.
Modelers and QA team members discuss questions, issues, and solutions quickly.
Holostep Admin Dashboard
Used to test models in the Holostep viewer system.
Enables AR/3D visualization for real-time compatibility, appearance, and color accuracy checks.
Models are tested for compliance with quality standards, such as proper scaling, texture alignment, and visual appearance.
Task Assignment
Modelers receive a ClickUp card with all relevant task details.
Priority helps modelers focus on the most urgent projects first.
The "level" categorization defines task complexity and associated compensation.
3D Model Creation
3D Models are created using mainly Blender based on provided details and reference images.
Any questions are resolved promptly via Google Chat.
Quality standards outlined in documentation must be adhered to.
Add measurement features to the model as follows:
Import the provided Blender file:
measurement
.Adjust dimensions in edit mode to match the model.
Input dimensions in centimeters.
Merge all elements into a single mesh.
Name the mesh:
dimension_cm
.
Texture Creation
Textures are created using Substance Painter.
Texture resolution must always be 4K (compression handled by our software).
Textures must meet quality standards and resemble the actual product.
Model Export
Ensure all measurement features are correctly added.
Verify the model as per the 3D Modeling Guidelines documentation and export it.
All objects are merged into a single object.
All objects are merged into a single object.
All transformations are applied.
Normals are facing the right (outside) direction.
Only one material is assigned to the model unless otherwise required, such as for transparent textures.
The final file is in GLB format.
The origin of the product is at the centre of gravity of the product.
Testing in app.holostep.io
Upload the model to the Holostep Admin Dashboard (app.holostep.io).
Verify proper display of the model and textures.
Compare texture colors with the original product and platform display.
If colors are incorrect:
Adjust HDRI settings.
Revisit Step 3 (Texture Creation) and resolve issues.
File Upload
Create a project-specific Google Drive folder. The name of the folder always needs to match the title of the specific ClickUp card.
Upload the model and texture files into their correctly named folder.
Ensure proper naming conventions (files must match the ClickUp card name).
QA and Corrections
QA team reviews the model and provides feedback.
Modelers implement requested corrections, retest the model, and re-upload files.
If no errors remain, the project is marked complete.
Model File
Accepted formats:
.glb
,.fbx
, or other project-specific formats.File must include the complete model with correct dimensions.
Texture Files
Accepted format:
.png
. - 4KTexture files must be properly named (e.g., diffuse, normal, roughness).
